La Farge, WI. – Gene Allen Zautke, 54, of La Farge, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, Aug. 1, 2016 with his fiancee, Vicki Ozelis. Gene was born on Feb. 16, 1962 in Reedsburg, the son of Allen and Dorothy (Schmidt) Zautke. He was a graduate of Baraboo High School Class of 1981, he enlisted in the United States Air Force after graduation and received an honorably discharged. Gene was employed at Cropp Organic Valley, in Chaseburg, in the maintenance department. In his spare time, he enjoyed the outdoors and kept busy with various repair projects and spending time with family and friends. He will be truly missed by all who knew him. Survivors include his daughter, Amber; son, Allen; granddaughter, Gabbie; his mother, Dorothy; a brother, Steve (Judy) Zautke; two sisters, Lavonne Zautke and Linda McWane; several nieces, nephews other relatives and friends. He is further survived by his step-children, Ian Ozelis, Rae Ann (Steve) Pyfferoen, Daina Ozelis and Peter Ozelis; and step-grandchildren, Sammy and Kaley. He was preceded in death by his father, Allen August Zautke; and his brother, Larry. Memorial services will be held at a later date in August, at Devil’s Lake State Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the family. The Rago-Baldwin Funeral Home, 520 East St., Baraboo, is assisting the family with arrangements.
